I have the pleasure of once again hosting and teaching alongside Iain Abernethy on Sunday 17th February 2019.
The seminar will be held at North Solihull Sports Centre, Conway Road, Chelmsley Wood, B37 5LA and I will be looking at some sections from Chinto, Jitte, Pinan / Heian Yodan and Godan but no prior knowledge of these kata are needed in order to perform the particular drills.
Pre-booking for the seminar is essential and the cost of the seminar is £35 if paid advance or £45 if paying on the day (paying on the day places need to be confirmed by Andy prior to arriving). The UK Director of the Minnesota Kali Group (MKG) will once again be teaching a seminar around the MKG method.
This will be the 3rd Seminar Brendan has done for us and each year just gets better and better. We will be focussing on different arts from the MKG curriculum. The session is open to abilities, so if your new to martial arts your still welcome to attend.

On Sunday 3rd June I will be teaching a seminar around trapping and grappling concepts found within karate kata.
We will look at common principles throughout the day and see how various kata demonstrate these principles. The day will cover entering techniques, trapping and clearing obstructions, joint locks and chokes/strangles.
this will be an interesting day for both advanced students and beginners. You do not to be a karate student to attend the seminar, students of all martial arts are welcome, the techniques taught throughout the day will be applicable to all martial arts styles.
The seminar will cost just £25 per person.

Following on from last year’s successful seminar with have the pleasure of hosting Guro Brendan Westwood the UK & European Director of the Minnesota Kali Group for another seminar around the MKG arts. The session last year focussed around stick and knife training, hubad (a sensitivity drill to feel pressure from a partner or opponent to manipulate them into positions where they are off balance and easy to hit) and impact work on the focus mitts. Was a great session and sure this year’s session will be just as fun!
The seminar will be held at Team Black Belt Dojo, Lode Lane, Solihull, B92 8NU. The cost will be £30 for the seminar and can be paid by either cheque or cash on the day. On Sunday 26th June, Phil Norman will be coming to teach a 2 hour seminar based around his Survive self protection system as well as a 2 hour seminar on his Ghost System.
In 1989 Phil became the first UK based student to pass Ajarn Surachai Sirisute’s Thai test and he also received his Initiateur (Instructor) in Boxe Francais Savate under Professeur Salem Assli. In 1991 Phil became an apprentice instructor under Guru Dan Inosanto in the Filipino Martial Arts Kali/ Silat and in Jun Fan Martial Arts/ Jeet Kune Do.
In 1998 Phil won the middleweight Sport Ju Jitsu World Title, beating fighters from Japan, Canada and the USA. In 2000 Phil took and passed the Shooto exam under Sensei Yorinaga Nakamura and became the first UK student to get a 100% pass rate. In the same year, he became one of only 5 Students in the UK to be awarded the honour of his Full Instructorship under Guru Dan Inosanto.
