June 2019 Newsletter

Hi everyone,

Wow, now that month went quick and here we are with another newsletter. There isn’t too much really to add since last months newsletter. We’ve continued to work towards grading requirements, and I have set a grading date which will be noted a little further down.

I’m sure most of you will also have already seen that I have created a facebook page dedicated to our kids classes so I will be posting regular updates, photo’s and video’s on here as well on the main Facebook page.

Anyway, on to the main body of this newsletter:

  1. Grading Date
  2. Seminar in Birmingham with Lee Taylor and Leigh Simms
  3. Kaizen Expo
  4. A.R.M.A Online
  5. Student of the month

Grading Date

I have arranged a new grading date for our ARMA Kids Karate classes and these will be held the week commencing 15th July 2019, an invitation to grade will be sent out soon.

Gradings for the adults class will be given out before the end of June.

Mixed Arts
As mentioned during the class the kids will have modular assessments based on the arts being covered (Kickboxing, Muay Thai and Kali).

A similar format to the last grading will take place for the adult’s mixed arts class and details will be given out for this soon.

Jun Fan Kickboxing
We now have a structure in place to start grading preparations for the kickboxing grades and again when we are near to this a date will be given out to all that want to take part.

Kaizen Expo

On 7th July I will be teaching at the fastest growing martial arts event in the UK, the Kaizen Expo. This will be the first time that I’ve taught on a UK wide scale and really looking forward to the opportunity this presents even if I am a little nervous!!! I’ve been asked to teach a workshop on Jeet Kune Do (JKD – Bruce Lee’s fighting method).

The event will be held at The Bulwell Academy, Squires Avenue, Nottingham, NG6 8HG and is an all-day event. Any A.R.M.A. Members that would like to attend this please let me know as soon as possible.

Non-A.R.M.A members can buy tickets through the events facebook page (link)

I look forward to seeing everyone there.

A.R.M.A. Online

I’ve continued to work on this course and the basic format is in place, I’ve got a few more video’s to upload to the website and will let everyone know when this course goes live.

Student of the month

For the first time since November 2010 when I first started teaching, I have decided to give out a Student of the month certificate.

Our first ever Student of the month has come from out Kids Tuesday Karate Class.

Well Done, I look forward to giving more of these out in the coming months, and will be giving out one for each kids class taught. So turn up, try your best and you could be in with a shot of getting one of these too.

So that’s it from me for now, if you have any suggestions for future newsletter content drop me an e-mail or speak to me at class. Having problems with a certain technique or sequence in a kata? Just let me know and I’ll get a video filmed and shared.

Thanks for reading this and I’ll see you all soon.
